Geographical Condition
The province of Sulawesi Barat with Mamuju its capital is located between zero and 12' –3038‘ South Latitude, and 118°43'15” up to 119°54'3” East Longitude. This Province is bounded by the Province of Central Sulawesi at the north side and Makassar Strait at the west side. Boundary at south and east is Sulawesi Selatan Province.
There are 8 rivers in Sulawesi Barat, 5 of which flow in Polewali Mandar. The two longest rivers are Saddang River and Karama River whose length are about 150 km each. Saddang River flows through Tana Toraja, Enrekang, Pinrang Regencies and Polewali Mandar, and Karama River is in Mamuju Regency.
The province of Sulawesi Barat has two Mountain with height above 2500 meters. Mountain Gandadewata is the highest mountain, which 3,074 meters above the sea level. This mountain stands in Mamuju Regency.
The area of Province of Sulawesi Barat area is 16.937,16 square km which include 5 regencies. Mamuju regency is the widest regencies, it is about 8.014,06 sq. km, which constitutes 47,32 percent of total area of Sulawesi Barat.
